Hypnotherapy

Cathy holds a Diploma in Hypnotherapy and has studied extensively with well known Hypnotist Paul Mc Kenna. She currently assists Paul whenever possible on his NLPTM trainings and amazing weight loss seminars in the UK.
Hypnotherapy is an agent for change and my expertise is in behavioural change. The type of Hypnotherapy I practice does not include kissing brooms or chasing leprechauns. However as a trained Ericksonian Hypnotherapist, which for the client basically means that you can look forward to feeling very relaxed and at ease. Through guided visualisation your imagination can begin wandering off as you begin to wonder how easy it is to simply let go and allow your unconscious mind take you on a journey as you begin to notice changes…… Your imagination can help unblock or release your potential - sounds easy doesn't it? Well it is! During the hypnotherapy session you actually become more aware of your surroundings especially smells, sensations and sounds around you. On the odd occasion people might fall asleep and wake up on their own or not. There is no such thing that you will get stuck in a trance and never come out of it or that the hypnothereapist has full control over you. In the past however it is understandable how people developed misgivings about hypnosis. This was mainly due to the fact that hypnosis was associated with magic.

A well known famous German hypnotherapist, Franz Anton Mesmer born in 1734, a medical doctor by profession, formulated a theory relating to the effect that planets have on the human body. He believed that there was a type of magnetic fluid which saturated the body and needed to be distributed evenly throughout the body for well being. With the use of magnets he stroked the magnetic field about several inches from the body - (could this be similar to an aura)! Magnets were new and magical at the time and people thought that the magnets had great powers. Many were convinced that the magnets would cure them and guess what? It worked! This of course is the principle key in hypnotherapy: the belief that whatever you want to happen will happen. That is the power of your own imagination and unconscious mind. Before long Mesmer realised that he could cure without magnets and soon his clinic became a show place in Paris - getting mesmerised became the in-thing at the time. Almost as popular as a ride in a hot air balloon! Subsequently researchers believed that the hypnotist held the power - that the people who were looking for help gave up their free will and subjected themselves to the hypnotist - hence the word subject. Debatable yes but NOT TRUE! If you decide that you might like to experience hypnotherapy remember you will always be in control!! It is a wonderful, gentle and rejuvenating experience. Ahh! Almost like a short vacation. As part of my hypnotherapy sessions I teach people Self Hypnosis so that they can hypnotise themselves for whatever they are working on for themselves as well as life skills.

Hypnotherapy can be used to help overcome High Blood Pressure, Irritable Bowel Sydrome, Headaches and Migraines, Premenstrual Syndrome, Pain Management, Infertility, Sleep Problems and Chronic Fatigue.
